Total waste of time & potentially dangerous.
As part of the bottling process the contents of the jar are heated to boiling point or above, to sterilise the contents. As everything cools the lid & "Button" are drawn down. That shows the bottling & sterilisation is complete. As soon as you open the jar you let in pathogens from the atmosphere. Some of them love reduced oxygen environments, one that springs to mind is Clostridium botulinum. That's what this process of Chris's promotes.
Go with Alchy's route, but use the fridge... Eat safe folks.

Can anyone tell me what type of tape is used to seal the jars, as i cannot get it to work as shown in the video ?

Not sure, but I would try electrical tape.

Electrical insulation tape works well - I've been using a variation of this method of storage for years and it works fine.
