Steve made this for my Landlords birthday he's a Pathia freak, he's dead impressed along with about 10 random punters some had never had this before and are now converts so thanks for this gastronomic delight 10/10 mate.

High praise indeed Chickenbhoona! Thank you for trying another one of my dishes and great photo, your dish looks fantastic and saucey just how I like it!

Pathia isn't a dish I've paid too much attention to until the last year or so, but as it's a favourite dish of one of my mates I have sampled a number of the Pathia dishes she has had when we go out for a curry. Hence I was encouraged to come up with this recipe... I need to cook it for her now!

Cheers for nominating my pathia recipe. I developed it seeing as pathia is a good friend of mine's go to dish. I'll have to try it again myself having not cooked it in some time!

Good choice, do like a good Parthia, hopefully I can get some spare time got too many things going on at the moment, it’s a shame that life gets in the way of cooking curries

Here we go, I cooked this dish today for lunch. I followed the recipe to the letter and it turned out wonderful. Very well balanced flavours, the sweet and the sour came through nicely. The missus loved it (unfortunately for me she ate more than her fair share in my opinion), and demanded that this recipe replace my usual vindaloo/madras/naga curries that I make regularly.

Thanks for sharing your recipe Steve, I loved it and I do hope others give it a go, it really is worth trying.

Your dish looks on the money and I am glad that it met both your approvals! Thanks for trying another one of my recipes! How did you find the heat level? I gather pathia dishes can vary greatly in their spiciness!

I found it to be a medium heat curry, as much as I love chilli I don’t think it needs to be too hot or the other flavours (sweet and sour) may be lost/masked by chilli heat. I think you have this pathia perfectly balanced.

Cheers for the feedback Andrw, I'll probably add half a tsp of extra chilli powder when I next cook this for myself then, but sound right for when I cook for guests!

As would be expected from SP, this was an excellent curry. Decided to pre-cook the chicken in the base to save time, and it worked out well. Not the hottest Pathia on the block, maybe this was down to my lack of Mr Naga, but I did up the chilli powder an added a hot tomato chill pickle to compensate.

Looks lovely GB. Interesting regarding the heat. Get some Mr naga in there!!! Pathia is an interesting dish in terms of heat level, I gather it can vary quite a bit from restaurant to restaurant

Sadly, can't source the stuff around here, even Spices of India and Amazon don't seem to stock it. Looks like I'll have to go on an excursion to an Indian/Asian supermarket next time I'm in London to stock up.

Cory: no, no, no - please don't shelve it, the Curry of the Month is a great idea - I'm just waiting for a veggie one! (Or maybe I should have tried to make some paneer and have a go at this one, or substituted some tofu or even butter beans for the paneer!)
