Shock-Horror Mother's Curry!
Here's a Chicken Madras I had (the other night)...but with all of "Mother's" trimmings (i.e. desiccated coconut, apple, sultanas, banana, cucumber & raw onion) with pilau rice :
Strange, but highly nutritious, and nice for a change!

Looks incredibly tasty CA.
My local takeaway does a “Kashmiri rice”and first time I tried it, I wasn’t sure. ( I’m sure you are aware a lot of Indians here call their Peshawari naan “Kashmiri naan”)
So, the Kashmiri rice is full of dried fruit, nuts and desiccated coconut. I am addicted to the stuff now. It goes so well with their Vindaloo, glacé cherries and all.

We only get a glacé cherry on our biryani where I am. We get onion, cucumber and a pineapple ring too, mind you.
One of my favourite school meals was some unidentified ground meat in a green sauce and with lots of raisins. The white bits on top might have been coconut.

Re: Shock-Horror Mother's Curry!
I remember in the '70s the Birds Eye frozen curries had fruit in them, I can't remember if it was sultana or raisins, but the sweetness of the fruit balanced the very rough curry powder extremely well, and really made the dish.
I think the Vesta "powdered curry in a box" had some sort of fruit ingredient as well. While not a shadow of a decent home cooked BIR curry nowadays, they were still extremely moreish, despite the soy meat.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I think I would prefer that to the fried egg that one of my nearby places puts on top, it doesn't really do it for me at all.

Mother did the trimmings, but who made the Madras? If it was Mother too, you're a lucky boy!

The more I look at it , the more I like the idea of it - I may try something similar with my Phal tomorrow

@ JalfreziT,
What I meant was that this is how my mother may have made it (i.e. with all the trimmings). Given that she's in England, and I'm currently in Oz, it would be a mean feat for her to have made all of those trimmings (and/or the Madras)!

You can still get Vesta curries in one of the cheapie stores (might be B&M). My Mrs. Buys me them occasionally as a "treat" entirely different thing from eating either BIR or traditional Indian, more a 'comfort food' thing for me.

Re: Shock-Horror Mother's Curry!
My first curry was a bite of my Dad’s Vesta curry in the 1970’s. I don’t remember much about it other than being laced with sultanas and raisins. That and being rather watery.
I came for a visit but decided to stay.

Ah, Vesta, the memories, used to love them scooters, you can still buy them today but they can be quite expensive.
Don't know how much the curries are

That was the scooters that were shaped like a long necked Bird with Royal protection, wasn’t it?
Swan Vespas?
My brother and his girlfriend had matching ones.
They used to go out for a curry on them.
Their favourite was a Lambretta Madras.
