Ashton-Under-Lyne meet up 12th March

Post by Alchemist »

As myself and Rshome are already planning to meet up to exchange some recently purchased curry related goods next Sunday, I thought I would have another go at trying to tempt any local members to join us.

It will take place at 5pm on Sunday 12th March at The Indian Plaza, see here for details etc.

We will be there regardless of whether anyone else can make it, but it would be great to see other members there to break some naan bread and talk about all things BIR.

Hope this has gone well.

There are a lot of members on this site and it would be nice to think that a fair chunk of them would be interested in meeting fellow-minded folk. I really think it enhances the experience of this forum.

Enjoy, gents! Have a swipe of naan for me!

The meeting of the BIRCurries.co.uk Northern Region took place this evening. Messieurs Alchemist and Ricardo were in attendance. Much BIR cuisine was consumed and views exchanged. Monsieur Alchemist was cordially elected as Supreme Leader of the Northern Monkeys and Monsieur Ricardo King of YouTube.

Good meeting up with you again Alchy, as ever. Hopefully if we try another 'northern' bash we'll have more uptake. A Cheshire / Merseyside do ?

While looking down on the empty finished dishes, it was a case of "oh **** I forgot to take photos"

The best we could do would be an artists impression! The food was good and the place nicely done out and very busy, even though it was 5pm. I've certainly had better and can produce better at home, but no real complaints, just the moanings of a BIR perfectionist :):

BI, I was going to have a cooking session over at chez moi, followed by a trip to one of the local curry houses. Still keen to prove to you that the high output burner rules :-)

Paul had Garlic Mushroom Puri, Garlic Balti Chilli Chicken
I had Prawn Puri, Chicken Tikka Shashlik with Madras sauce
We each had a garlic naan, and shared a pilau rice.

The restaurant was large and surprisingly packed out considering it was 5pm on a Sunday. The service was a a little chaotic but unexpectedly expedient in delivery. As Alchy mentioned the food was ok, good nosh for the masses. No complaints, but have mostly dined out on better recently.
