Perth, Western Australia meet up.
Seeing as there are a few of us ex-pat curryholics over here in WA, maybe it's time we arranged a curry night/meet up to enjoy a good meal/swap ideas, and generally have a good night eating and drinking.
I have had the good fortune to have enjoyed a few such occasions with CA and Willyeckerslike. So, it would be good if we could get a few more people to attend. Willyeckerslike suggested he may be able to attend sometime in April (due to work commitments), so maybe we could work around him.
I would suggest somewhere central, or anywhere close to a train station north or south of river.......open to suggestions from people.
Unfortunately, Brick Lane has apparently gone out of business, which is a pity as it was right next to a train station AND with an Irish pub adjacent. Metro in Subiaco has been very good each time I have been, but not so train friendly.
Anybody interested? Any ideas on places to visit?

Re: Perth, Western Australia meet up.
I'm good for this. I'll try and fit in with any dates suitable for most attendees. A couple of places to consider:
The Turban (Melville) - with "award winning buffets" (eat as much as you like) on Fridays and Saturdays. Good value. They have (or did have) a "sister" restaurant, north of the river, somewhere (forget what it's called and where, but I'll find out if required).
The Cove (Attadale) - They also have an "eat as much as you like" buffet on a night (can't remember which night). Beautiful colonial style building.
What about Chutney Mary's, in Subiaco? I've tried the one in Rockingham, and that's not too bad.
There are also a couple in Freo (that I haven't tried). But that might be a bit out of the way, for some people?
None of the above are "BIR style", of course.
Or there is always British Indian 2 Go, in Kingsley, of course.....apparently BIR-style and started by a British expat...

Lol CA.
We could go and give Raj some business. Close to the train and it's BYO, so won't break the bank. I'm sure with a bit of notice he'd do us proud.
Keep in touch Willy as to when you're free........

Wouldn't be a bad idea, BI. I quite like it!
Byb the way, I'd be more than happy to pick people up at the station, and drop them off at the station (if either are at roughly the same time), if we choose to do it at my end, if that helps?

Good for you.
Great to see this coming together.
Sorry, cannot make it for obvious reasons.
Will be interested in results. We know a couple who moved to central Perth a couple of months ago.

Put me down for two places if you decide to go to Kingsley - it's only a 30 minute drive from our house in Wolverhampton!

Lol Slicker, we'll book you in then.
Nice one GH. We'll see if we get anymore interest, then look at booking something definite.
Willyeckerslike, do you know when in April you are free, then we can work around you?

Re: Perth, Western Australia meet up.
Just putting this back up and suggesting a curry night on 22 or 29th April.
The venue still to be decided on. Open to suggestions, if anyone else can make this and knows of somewhere particularly good.
If you're in Perth, don't be shy, come along say hello, and enjoy a curry and a beer or two.

Both dates are good, for me, BI. Hopefully, some of the other dozen or so members, currently living in Perth, will also be able to join us......

Re: Perth, Western Australia meet up.
Good to hear CA and Willyeckerslike.
So if both dates are good, can I suggest we make the 29th April the official date for the Perth curry/beer drinking night?
A venue will be decided upon in the next week or two, depending on how many other people decide to join us.
Personally, I think a train journey into the city c/w beers, curry and then more beers would be a great idea. But I am happy to go with the flow.

Sorry to mess you around guys, just got told I am off to work in PNG on the 28th of April for a few weeks. Hope I don't get eaten! So the 22nd is better for me.
Re: Perth, Western Australia meet up.
Sounds good, I'll check my work roster nearer the time hopefully I'll be off!

Re: Perth, Western Australia meet up.
Should still be good, for me, although the 22nd is our wedding anniversary (gulp! ) Still, we have already had 27 of them! So she'd probably be glad to see the back of me! Hmmm, perhaps I should double check....

No CA, we couldn't put you under that kind of dilemma. The 22nd doesn't work for me either.........unless wives/partners are going to come along of course......
