RSHome123, how do you feel this compares to your original Achari recipe?
yours seems to feature more seeds etc at the start, and would probably have more depth, but curious about this one, as I love the taste of an Achari.

Looks good Mr Cheddar, and thanks for the compliment.
Shrink, this Achari is simpler than mine, and I must say possibly better. It depends how much you like going in the Achari, also it depends somewhat on the pickle used. The Achmed one that I used this time is stronger in spices than the Brinjal and Naga pickles I have used for my Achari recipe (see Here for video/recipe).

Tres bien, MBC!

RSHome... Better how, if you don't mind me asking?
Genuinely interested as achari is one of my favs. I typically use partake lime pickle which always gives me the sharp hot pickle action I'm living for. Perhaps the additional heat, and sweetness from the mango chutney pay off in this recipe

Shrink... why better (possibly) ? Just that it tasted better from the few times I've made my own recipe... that could be due to various factors, not least the way the wind was blowing.
Humour aside, I think the way to go with these Achari curries is to find the right Pickle brand (or combination) that is tasty and balanced, rather than the random risk of over doing it with extra pickling spice seeds at the beginning. In THIS case, it's a matter of less is more, if you catch my drift.

I hear ya!
I'll give it a try, I've had great success with your achari recipe, and I like the addition of the extra pickling spices towards the beginning. It's always worked out very tasty for me. But I did have to back off on the amount of pickle I used the second time, because the first one was a bit "sharp". Having got the balance right, it has always been a winner for me.
Always worth trying something new though

Wow! Just made this using fusion base and Adey's mixed powder. Something very special going on with this one! Amazing BIR flavours.

Yes Grim I think a little is needed, depending on how salty the pickle you use is. Adjust at end if need more.

Hi gents,
Made tonight 100% to spec, Pataks pickle, own base and tikka.
Fantastic taste from so few ingredients and very simple to prepare, it usually takes me a few goes to memorise a recipe but could happily go and cook it again from scratch.
My only regret is I should have used the whole tsp if chilli powder and not wimped out with half
