Thanks Chuk... Had to be lamb for a Rogan Josh Video, but fancied Keema instead of Lamb chunks. Love Keema. After I finished filming I made make-it-up-as-you-go-along curry, with the leftover keema, and some pre-cooked chicken, tomato paste, gg etc. I've seen such a curry referred to as a 'Shahee', but I'm not sure of it's provenance. Delicious nonetheless.

Did you spot the rogue Tomato in the video ?

"Rogue" spotted.
I also come across ingredients like that, especially if I have an audience. :ohmg:

CA, I did put a link at the end of the video (you obviously didn't watch it thoroughly  ).

I will endeavour to make something appear more prominently in future videos.

I gave this a try last week and finally got round to eating it on Monday night. It is the most complex curry that I have tried to do and it really highlighted my inexperience as a BIR cook! I panicked a little half way through and forgot to add the cardamom seeds - not sure if this will have had much impact on the final dish? Anyway, the taste was lovely - very delicate and fragrant which is a nice contrast to the usual intense curries that I do. Will definitely be trying again, but with more preparation next time!

Looks nice, TT, thanks for trying it and glad you enjoyed it. Keep practising and learning... it took me a long time to get it right.

I can't spot any tomatoes and the sauce colour suggests there isn't much tomato paste in it (or is it my vision) ?

Hi RS, I didn't have any cherry tomatoes so quartered a large tomato. It does have the required tomato puree but my base has a little too much turmeric so most things come out with a yellowy orange tone!

That explains it. Thanks. A bit too much for the recipe to expect people to get cherry tomatoes for a BIR recipe, but they are little juicy bombs of flavour.

Made up a lamb rogan josh using this recipe with CA's base and spice mix.

Tasted really good. Used your pre cooked lamb recipe and the lamb came out tasting great.

Never really been a big lamb fan...until now!!!

One question should the fennel seeds be ground up or removed?

Just found that every now and then I'd chew down on one and get a strong hit of fennel. Didn't diminish how delicious this was.

Cooked a big batch of your RS1 base and tikka chicken...will let you know how that tastes in the next set of curries.

Love this site!

 Very pleased you tried and enjoyed it Ben. Leave fennel whole unless you don't like the little hits of flavour, otherwise you could add it ground, or even leave it out. I like the way fennel works with Lamb.

As this is our Curry Club recipe of the month, here is my Lamb Rogan Josh, faithfully following this recipe almost to the letter. My only deviation was that the coriander and cumin were not roasted.

After making two single and one double portion of this one, I am somewhat jaded, as the list of ingredients is huge! It had me scurrying to the bottom of my spice box for various rarely used ingredients. I think a few should be marked as optional, just to help people decide what can be left out if they want a simplified version.

Anyway, is was worth the effort and proved to be a delicious Rogan Josh  . I made it with the Fusion Base and Curried Away mixed powder.

Alchy.. thanks for trying it and for the feedback. Yes, it is a little complicated. I may do a simpler V2.
