Christmas dinner

Post by pauly »

We thought we'd have a change from the usual roast turkey this year & have an Indian meal.

We decided on:

Raan masaledar, leg of lamb in a spicy yoghurt sauce.
Meetha pullao, sweet yello rice.
Gujerati carrot salad.
Gujerati green beans.
Popadom.
Naan.
Washed down with a bottle of Cava.

Makes a change from the turkey, pauly.....but me thinks you've maybe gone all "traditional" on us! Madhur Jaffrey's recipes, per chance? :hmmm:

Thanks for sharing.... 8-)

You have it correct CA, Madhur Jaffrey's old BBC book, the left over lamb will be perfect for a BIR style Biriani on Saturday.

You’re a braver man than I for even broaching the subject of BIR for Christmas Lunch !
Great looking ensemble though, so well done !. Would you do it again next year ? ... or something more bizarre ?

We haven't really enjoyed the traditional roast turkey for a while & as we were on our own this year we fancied something different. The biriani I made with the left over lamb was possibly even nicer.

Haven't thought about next year yet, a lot can happen between now & then, but I think it will be something Indian, whether traditional or BIR I don't know.
