Last Nights Beef Rogan Josh
Knocked this up, last night, using a different base with different spicing (e.g. garlic powder, onion powder, fenugreek) pre-fried with tomatoes, onions, capsicum, garlic, ginger and other spices (i.e. "baghaar") and added to the remaining onions before boiling in the normal way. Tasted mighty fine (the different spice add a nice difference), even if I do say so myself (but it could have been that I was particularly hungry, of course!):

Looks great CA.
in that first photo, I immediately thought you had included a perfectly cooked egg yolk, until I realised it was half a tomato.
Do you feel like sharing this different base for us to try?

Yes, it does look like a bit of a yoke, BI
Happy to post the revised curry base recipe (once I've trialled it a bit more and am happy with it).

Yaaaaay. Another base to try
It’ll have to be good to beat your original.
Lately I’ve tried a JB base, minus the fried garlic, but with the addition of an Akhni stock (don’t know whether this adds much, but it’s quick and easy to do)
I’ve had some very good results, but I have been cooking with your spiced oil, which does make a big difference IMHO
