Playing around with BI vindaloo using his mix of spices but instead of base gravy I just chopped an onion, tin of diced toms, garlic ginger and a little water, just like a Pataks jar.

I bet it tasted better than anything that came out of a Pataks jar Rusty, good idea though, it's makes it very interesting to try different things sometimes.
Re: British Indian Vindaloo with no base gravy
Looks good. No reason why you can't make a good curry without gravy. It's not exactly a mystery what's in the gravy anyhow, so there must be other ways of arriving at the same destination.

Re: British Indian Vindaloo with no base gravy
Thanks guys
The curry turned out not bad at all, next time I am going to purée the tomatoes and maybe add some French onion soup instead of water just to soften the tomatoe taste.
I used pre cooked beef Slicker
I did make two dishes using the exact same spice mixing Into a paste but the second curry I used my base gravy poured in all in one go cold then simmered for about 10 mins.
Both curries were nice but we thought using base gravy was the better of the two.
Cheers Rusty
