Re: Forum Banner
It is already a "stickie", rsh (which means that it stays as the first topic of this section of the forum). I could create a new sub-section for it (but it may then be "less visible"). What else would you suggest, please? Perhaps members simply aren't interested in it (which is a bit of a shame)?

CA,
maybe it's because members are happy with it as is, and don't feel the need to say so?

Re: Forum Banner
Thanks, ToL, once we have more submissions I will look at updating the banners......
Anyone submitting any new design suggestions to possibly replace the flags?
PS: For anyone intending to submit an entire banner design for consideration the banner image should be 1320 pixels wide by 329 pixels tall

I like the idea of a combined Indian/Union flag?
Improved font?
Keep the ability to update uploaded members pics either end?
Just an idea...

Re: Forum Banner
I'd keep the flag British - "Indian" in this sense refers to a type of cooking rather than being strictly from India and most BIRs are not Indian. I have spoken to a few people of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi descent that I know and none of them mind being called British or Scottish or whatever and regard the cooking as being of a type rather than being strictly geographical.

Re: Forum Banner
It`s a union jack in Indian flag colours - it is both British and Indian simultaneously. Suggested as a possible idea?
I understandyour point about different nationalities, so it`s probably not usable after all.
I`m only here for the superb advice and tips and loving the curries so all good!!
Making a new Vindaloo tomorrow chaps, fresh tomatoes, looking forward to supplying recipe variations and overall outcome.
Made over 5 litres of CA base today! Phew! Broke blender (old anyway) had to order a new one. Worth it me thinks ;-)

Re: Forum Banner
Sorry to disagree with tol, but the Union flag, is the Union flag.
It flew over India during the Raj, and most of the world as well.
Use it as it was designed, or don't use it.
The proposed colours look as though the Irish had a hand in it's design.
Use it as it should be, or discard it, but don't abuse it.

Re: Forum Banner
Sheesh, that sounds a little harsh (and somewhat nationalistic), chukit! I'm grateful for the suggestion (and I quite like it - it's creative!)

Re: Forum Banner
Harsh? I don't think so.
Nationalistic? You betcha life I am.
I served 8 years with the colours and I am proud of that service.
Several million men of different nationalities died under that flag, and I think it would be disrespectful to them to 'dick around with it'
Is the term 'Nationalistic' now a dirty word or something? Does it now rank alongside 'racist', or xenophobic?
Whatever. That is how I feel.

Flag arguments aside, I like the artwork and you have an eye for colour and contrast.

Re: Forum Banner
The last design is very visually attractive. But it is difficult to discern what the wording is, or what it represents.
Whatever we go for, needs to be immediately recognizable as a logo for this forum and subject.
