After watching rshomes vindaloo video, frankly after 5 minutes watching I swear I could smell it!I thought I would have a go along with Chukits Bhuna, pilau rice and chapati's.
Very nice all round. Blimey Charlie the vindaloo was hot!

Re: Friday curry night!
Excellent Rik. You got a superb red colour, which leads me to ask what brand of Kashmiri chilli powder did you use? Surprises me that you thought the vindaloo was so super hot, unless you're just not used to hot curries.
Re: Friday curry night!
It was hot, not super hot, kind of where I would expect vindaloo to be, moorish rather than gasping for air hot.
I used MDH kashmiri chili powder, this stuff;
And TRS extra hot chili powder
Yes, the colour was excellent, very pleased with it.

Looking good, Rik, nice job!
Which recipes did you use for the Pilau Rice & Chapattis?

The rice and bread are the 'good ladies' territory, I am the main course cook in the house, the good lady does all the ancillary bits, baking, cakes, rice, puddings etc
The rice in the pic above was left over from the previous evening's south Indian style curry (Chettinad style pepper chicken, rasam, masala dosa, and rice), sadly the dosa didn't work out at all so just had the potato filling as a side dish!
We call it pilau rice, but not true to a BIR Pilau i'm sure
I'll ask the exact recipe/method (sort of boil then steam off the heat method) and post it but I do know the ingredients are like this;
Washed basmati rice
vegetable oil
butter
pinch of fennel seeds
couple of cardamoms
half a smallish onion finely chopped
1 chicken stock cube per cup of dry rice
Edit: Just been looking on the recipe pages here, the above is not a million miles away from Stupots rice/method
The bread is;
Flour
water
sunflower oil
butter (In it as well as spread on it I think)
salt
sugar
pinch of baking powder
pinch cumin seeds
Again, i'll ask exactly but more or less the above.
