Posting Attachments (e.g. Photos) on the Forum

Post by Admin » Mon Apr 01, 2013 3:32 am

Please feel free to post photos of your curries (those that you have made or those that you have bought) here.

If your photos are of the results of a posted recipe, please post them in the appropriate recipe thread rather than here.

Please note that the required method for uploading attachments (e.g. photos), on this forum, is to use the forum's "Upload attachment" function (available, in the tabs, at the bottom of each "POSTREPLY" or "NEWTOPIC" screen).

Here is a video on how to do it:

Please do not use links to third party image hosting websites (e.g. Photobucket, Imageshack, etc). These links are often broken, in time, thereby compromising the ongoing integrity of the forum.

Current file size properties are as defined here

Please let me know if this causes you any difficulties. We can review it, and alter it, as appropriate.

Thank you for your understanding in the matter.

I seem to be having some difficulty.

I go to the attachments: it has 'filename', 'browse' and 'add file'
Yet when i go to 'browse' so as to upload images the browse button is inactive. So am i doing something wrong? Not sure what the 'add file' is for since when i press that it just takes me to my message about to be posted.

I assume the following field below this is to give a description

cheers

Hi Failsafe,

I think you'll find that the "Browse..." or "Choose File" function is actually active (it just doesn't highlight, very clearly, when you hover over it with your cursor...so it appears to be inactive).

Just click on it, anyway, and it should open up your file explorer. Then find the attachment you want to upload, select it by double clicking on it, and then click "Add the file".
Regards

Hi CA

I 've just spent the best part of an hour trying to add a photo of our Rogan Josh, but after I thought I was finally there, I was informed that the file was was too big.............bugga.

I wouldn't have a clue on re-sizing it. That's why I quite like photobucket as it did all the brain-work.

It seems old dogs cannot be taught new tricks .... lol

Oh well, at least I tried 8-)

Hey CA, Just wanted to say that the post I made most recently allowed a max of 10 attachments. I realize this thread is a little old now so maybe you changed it recently, but thought I'd mention anyway.

Secondly, may I suggest that you change the max dimensions to 800 x 800? It would be nice to be able to upload a portrait image as well and these would of course be 600x800 and thus currently not allowed. You will note if you look closely at my first photo post in this section that a couple of my pictures are actually not the correct way up, but I had to upload them that way to make them fit hehe. Anyway, just a thought.

Cheers,
Lozman.

Hi Lozman,

Thanks for your observation and suggestion. I have changed the dimensions to 800x800 and updated the original post accordingly (including 10 as the maximum number of attachments rather than 5).

PS: I have also re-uploaded your photos in the correct orientation.

Good suggestion Lozman!
"Don't burn the spices" is the most dangerous truism of all - because it's incomplete. It should be "Don't burn the spices but do cook them!"
You'll never make BIR if you're too cautious frying your spices.....
