2021 New Year's Best BIR-Style Curry Photo Competition!

Post by Admin »

Competition:

2021 New Year's best BIR-style curry photo competition!

Duration:

This competition will run until such time as there are at least 10 entrants or 1 month has elapsed (whichever occurs later).

Prize:

The winner will receive either £5 (gross amount transferred by PayPal) or free 6 months forum Membership at the choice of the recipient. If the recipient choses the latter, and is already a Member, the duration of their Membership will be extended by 6 months.

The winner will also have their photo posted on the forum's Index Page/Banner for 1 month.

Rules:
  • This competition is open to all members of BIRCurries.co.uk (i.e. Registered Users and Members)
  • Each entrant can submit as many curry photos as they wish (simply post them by replying to this thread)
  • Each photo must be of curry (or curries) that have been recently, and genuinely, cooked by the entrant
  • Each photo must be new and original (i.e. it must not have been posted here, or elsewhere, before)
Award Decision:

In deciding the winner, credit will be given to the photo which:
  • best reflects this forum's Vision & Mission and the spirit and intent of the forum (i.e. the winner will not necessarily be awarded to the photo exhibiting the best photographic prowess)
  • is taken of a BIR-style curry made using a recipe from this forum
  • is supplemented by additional information (e.g. a description behind its making, a recipe and/or video)
Hopefully, all members will feel comfortable with submitting their photos and participating in this competition....

Good luck to all who participate! 8-)

Lamb Biriani served with a vegetable curry.

Biriani posted on the forum.

I made the pilao rice somewhat special by adding saffron crumbled in warm milk & added to the rice.

The lamb was left over from the Raan we had for Christmas dinner.

Thanks for your entry, ibrahim 8-)

Here's one of my/our recent curry meals (sorry, it's out-of-focus! Grrrr....), just to help things along:

Mango Chicken (rear), Tarka Dhal (front), Saag Aloo (right), homemade Plain Naan (left) and plan boiled basmati rice (underneath!)

Mango Chicken, Tarka Dhal, Saag Aloo, Plain Naan & Basmati Rice

And another, Chicken Tikka Bhuna (also out of focus!):

Chicken Tikka Bhuna

And another, unfortunately unknown concoction! (also out of focus!):

Unknown

So, as you can see, I've set the bar low!

4 down and only 6 more entrants to go! Anybody else up for winning a fiver (or 6 months free membership).....? 8-)

Please note that the maximum permissible attachment size is now 5MB, so you should be able to upload your photos directly from your device, without the need to resize it! So what are you waiting for!!!!.........

Looks awesome, Westy, plenty of oil to dip one's naan into! Is the stem from a dried bhut jolokia chilli? Is the recipe posted on the forum? Here, perhaps?

Very easy, now that you don't even have to re-size your image! Simply upload your photo, directly as an attachment from your mobile/device! (using drag and drop, if you like).

Yes, there was a whole Bhut Jolokia in there plus the Tblsp of Bhut Jolokia powder. The whole chilli melted into the sauce a little as it cooked - I had ‘reconstituted’ it in the base overnight before making up the curry, otherwise it may have held up better. The recipe is posted here.

Thanks for your entry, Qprhoop 8-)

I have taken the liberty of adding links to your post since your curries are made from recipes posted on this forum (which is a relevant consideration when declaring a winner) and for members who might like to try making them.

Only 4 more entrants to go........
