Perth 2019 meet up

Post by British Indian »

After a recent visit to Salt restaurant left us less impressed than the previous visit, Willyeckerslike and myself have decided to visit this place:

http://thebollywoodrestaurant.com.au

I have been working at British Indian 2go for the last month as Raj is in India. A couple of the staff members highly recommend this place as being arguably the best Indian restaurant in Perth. I will book a table for FRIDAY 4th JANUARY at 7.45 pm. Anyone in Perth is welcome to join us. Just please respond ASAP if you would like to come along. The plan is to meet up earlier, have a beer or two probably at The Paddo.

http://www.paddo.com.au

It looks like a nice restaurant, and the Paddo is a great pub, so could turn into a real good night. So come on peeps, come along and join us. We are planning on bringing wives/partners along to this one. :):

That's some menu there BI, the curries are roughly the same price as here in Ireland, but I thought the onion bhaji & chicken tikka starter were expensive.

Yes Pauly, that’s the price we pay here in Perth. I think the Tikka and bhajis are slightly higher than your average restaurant, but if they are much better than your average restaurant, I am happy to pay the difference.

True Will, a mere 17.5 hours of non stop flying and you’re in Perth. All welcome...........

Gawd, it's a bit PINK and contemporary!!!! What ever happened to the dim lights and flock wallpaper! :w00t:

It will be interesting to see how the food pans out. I'll join you, if I can, but I will have to confirm nearer the date. It would also be great to see some other Perth members attend, of course....

PS: What's this:

Image

Hmmm, lobster tandoori/tikka, wouldn't mind trying some of that (probably cost around $100 though....can't seem to find it on the menu).

I thought it was a deterrent to other cockroaches till I looked again.......

There’s sizzling lobster on the menu at $35.......not too bad, but I think I’ll pass on that.

Just need to finalise the numbers for this event.

So far we have:

Mr and Mrs. Eckerslike
Mr and Mrs. BI
Herdsman?

If anybody else would like to join us, please respond ASAP.

I have booked the restaurant for 6 people. If Herdsman could confirm if he is bringing along another person that’d be great.

Looking forward to trying this place.

Ok, I have confirmed the booking for 6 people ( educated guess in the absence of a reply from herdsman) for 7.45pm this Friday 4th Jan. We will have an aperitif or two at The Paddington Ale House beforehand, then see how we feel after the food. Will, I’ll give you a ring tomorrow re: meeting up and time.

I really do hope this place is as good as I’ve been informed it is.

Ended up with just BI, myself and partners. The food was great but different, more traditional style with a few of the old favorites thrown in. The stars of the show for me were the non veg platter and veg platter starters which we all shared, but that's not too take away from the main courses which were great.
As always thanks for a great night out BI, really enjoyed the food but more so the company, had a great laugh!

Yep, great night with great company. Lovely to meet Mrs. Eckerslike. Unfortunately Herdsmann didn’t make it and we missed CA big time. Hopefully he’ll be with us at the next one.

Now the food, as Will said the starters were great, we forgot to take pictures ( I think we were all very hungry) but they were very tasty. The mains were all very good too.

The big question: Is this the best Indian in Perth? I don’t know, but I am struggling to think of a better one. In comparison to a good BIR, it doesn’t compete. But for Australia, I think is a good asset and I would definitely go again.

Overall a really nice, pleasant evening with great company and good laughs.

Some great wall murals with even better ones in the gents 😊

The best Indian in Perth? Hard to say as I've not tried them all yet : but seriously as a whole meal, it's the best I have had. I have had better naan here and vindaloo there etc, but the difference for me was minimal. I would recommend it to all in Perth, definitely worth a visit.
I don't need my readers in the gents usually BI, next time I will take them 😂

Sorry I couldn't join you but glad to hear that you all had a great time 8-)

Some of those mains (?), in Willyeckerslike's photos, look huge? Are they double (or even bigger) portions?

I notice that the caption for one of your photos is "Chucken Jhalfrezi" BI - perhaps that explains the trips to the gents to inspect the "murals"?

The main dish on the large oval plate was a sizzling dish. so it was on a flat plate basically, rather than a bowl. I thought the main portion sizes were about right. They were pretty generous with the amount of chicken (thigh) and lamb in the curries.

"Chucken". Must be the Kiwi iccent coming bick bro :):

Nice one with the curry night! It sounds like they catered well to two discerning connoisseurs and their partners!
