Good morning, rs. Thanks for your comments.

If I may say so, it tastes better than it looks.

The caramelised onion adds another layer of flavour to it.

Normal onion is also ok if you are not into the caramelised ones.

Might be tempted to give this a go but substituting the food colouring for a touch of turmeric, not a fan of colouring.

I made this tonight along with rshome123's Saag Aloo (again) & a Tarka Dhal served with plain yoghurt. It all went together well, the rice is very tasty & made a nice change from Pilau. My wife agreed & said she would definitely have it again.

This recipe is really good
I like rice and cook it a lot
It's a very simple recipe
But simple, when done right, is the best
I cooked it to very positive results
I made a couple of subtle changes
The changes I made were
pre heat the rice in it's carton, in a microwave, before adding to the onions
Every takeaway I have been in, does that
No one adds it cold
Same goes for chicken tikka, if that's added to something, it's always heated in the microwave first
The other change was, add 1/2 teaspoon of salt when the rice goes in
It's a touch bland without it
But maybe I cook my boiled rice with less salt
It's a lovely accompaniment
Thank you Charliebir

Well, I have to admit that it looks good but I generally cheat and use pre-cooked, commercially-bought crispy onions which I get from either the Polish shop or Polish aisle in the supermarket or from an Indian shop or from a Chinese supermarket.

Thank you haldi for your nomination and thank you to Pauly and every one who has tried it up till now.

It is a favourite in our house.

Regarding the salt, its down to preference. I tend to not use salt during or after cooking in anything, but thats just me !

Tried this tonight, and it was really tasty. There were a number of rather unsavoury words used in the preparation of this recipe, as the lid was not properly screwed onto my TRS yellow food colouring. Picking it up by the top, the bottom part fell off and landed on the floor, tipping 50% of the contents on the floor ...

A nice easy dish to prepare though, quicker than Julian Voight's version.

As a matter of interest Pauly, what brand of rice do you use? Tried out some Badshah I've just purchased for the dish, but the grains are nowhere as long as yours (despite soaking).

It was Pauly. Next time I will put more chicken Tikka in and have it as a main meal rather than a snack. Cheers Charliebir for this one. It's a keeper.
