Hi Mr Cheese,
I've tried one or two mixed pickles and been a little disappointed (I forget brands, but they weren't pataks, which I've not tried), but I seem to remember Adey mentioning that the Ahmed mixed pickle is good. Add some extra fresh chilli to the curry if you want it hotter. Good luck . Bon chance.

Ok. Thanks rsh. Game on then! Almost €7 just to but that much fresh coriander in a supermarche here, so it had better be a good one!

7 Euros!!! WTF! A bunch big enough here costs me 40p from an Asian grocery.
I'd have thought Coriander would be plentiful in France.

If it helps that's the pickle I used when I made it a few weeks ago and it came out great, I've also done it with Pataks and imo the Ahmed brand tasted better, but it is a bit stalkey.

Thanks Squib. I've also found some mixed pickles can be 'stalky'. If in doubt, dollop it out onto a chopping board, remove the stalks, and chop finely.

I made this one two weeks ago and it was a cracker so thanks RS. Yes, it is a rich one but the citrus flavours are superb and I consumed it quite happily over two sittings with rice. For info, I used the Shan brand Chili Pickle and it did the job nicely- my pref is to chop the pickle finely to almost a paste for even distribution in the curry. Def would do it again. Something with prawns next up for me. Cheers.

Re: Month 3 - Coriander & Lemon Achari Mirch by rshome123
Bonsoir,
Made this evening to spec, using Fusion Base and Littlechilli's Mixed Powder. Only deviation was use of Ahmed Pickle, as approved here by the mighty rshome himself!
This one is a winner for me. I used to make a Madhur Jaffrey homestyle equivalent 20-odd years ago, for which I can no longer find the recipe.
Got to admit, when I was chopping the coriander, I thought it was going to be too much, but it wasn't. Great balance with the lemon and jaggery. Liked the consistency too.
I shouldn't really comment on the pickle, as I didn't have the one specified. If anything though - for my personal taste - I could happily substitute the pickle altogether for some chopped fresh green chilli. I think the dish would still have plenty of depth of flavour.
MadameBadgerCheese (who is not easy to please, I should add) declared the dish 'one of the best yet' and went back for seconds.
I'll be making this one again.
The BadgerCheeses salute you, rshome123
