Promotional Help

Post by Alchemist »

After having a great run with sales of the ebook on Kindle, things have dropped off somewhat.

I have tried promoting through numerous Facebook curry and food related groups, but it does not seem to generate much in the way of more sales (just a load of useless likes!!)

Do we have anyone on the forum with marketing experience or knowledge who can help with boosting our sales?

Yes thanks besty. Plenty of YouTube promotions out there. I have tried eBay, but more trouble than it was worth with very few sales.

Alchy, facebook marketing is very effective at the moment. Its good value for money compared to Google and allows very specific user targeting (location, interests, age, sex etc etc). I recently boosted a post for £10 and it reached 2000 people in my local area. Just had a look and "curry" and "cooking" are two things they profile people on.

I admire your persistence in trying to maximise the sale of our ebook and, therefore, the amount of donations to worthwhile charities and causes, however much it must feel like pushing sh*t garbage uphill, Alchy 8-)

However, I would really like to think that our esteemed members would be far more committed to, and would take far more ownership of, helping to promote our ebook (particularly given the charitable cause).

Therefore, I would like to suggest/request that:
  • members, who have social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc), please take every opportunity to provide a prominent link to our ebook on their social media pages and please take every opportunity to share the link wherever possible
  • members, who have a YouTube channel (some of which are clearly successful with many subscribers), please take every opportunity to provide a prominent link to our ebook and please take every opportunity to share the link on their YouTube channel and videos (and I do mean P R O M I N E N T L Y). This seems, to me, to be the most obvious promotional avenue (using, what should be, our community assets)
  • members, who have purchased a copy of the ebook from Amazon, please leave a positive review (assuming they like the ebook) to encourage others to also purchase a copy
  • members, who have acquired an illegal copy, please do the right thing and make the required contribution
It would be nice to think that our members are sufficiently committed to promoting our charity ebook (not to mention our forum). Without their commitment and support, both will undoubtedly flounder.

I have now created a Facebook page for the ebook - http://www.fb.me/bircurry . If members can visit and like it then it's a bit of free advertising

If anyone has any feedback on the page please feel free to pm me.

I guess for me a good start would be to buy the Ebook, and make a start on cooking something simple

Thanks to Tikka Tom for his Facebook page idea. Since creating a page sales have increased, with 6 ebooks being sold today alone following a post I made on the page. Nice one!
