Re: December 2018 - Oddbod's Slimline Dhansak

Good recipe this, although Mrs GB and myself have little need of watching our respective waistlines as we both disappear when standing sideways. As a consequence, Splenda is not an item we have in our store cupboard, nor would we ever use. This was duly substituted with some toasted dark Muscovado s...

Re: November 2018 - cartz's Hari Mirchi Bhuna Gosht

Photo from when I cooked this last week. Mrs GB gave this a 9, as did I. No deviation from the recipe, used a fresh portion of my own base and mix powder.

Cook off was a breeze, and if anyone is looking for a hot, multi-layered curry, this will deliver.

Re: August 2018 - Steveparadox's Pathia

Homemade chilli pickle made from Trinidad Scorpions ...
Was not sure if that was hyperbole, if I should be very wary of an invite to eat with BI, or if they had joined the dark side.

Turns out that Trinidad Scorpions are a 500,000 Scofield chilli I hadn't heard of.

Phew :lol::

Re: August 2018 - Steveparadox's Pathia

Sadly, can't source the stuff around here, even Spices of India and Amazon don't seem to stock it. Looks like I'll have to go on an excursion to an Indian/Asian supermarket next time I'm in London to stock up.

Re: August 2018 - Steveparadox's Pathia

IMG_6446.JPG IMG_6449.JPG IMG_6450.JPG IMG_6458.JPG As would be expected from SP, this was an excellent curry. Decided to pre-cook the chicken in the base to save time, and it worked out well. Not the hottest Pathia on the block, maybe this was down to my lack of Mr Naga, but I did up the chilli po...

Re: Yesterday's Curries...

Love the newspapers - used to do this until Mrs GB frowned accordingly  The oil level is just tantalising, and works well on the camera. I take it you avoid tomato in your base etc? My photos end up much more red on forum photos than they actually are in reality. I assume you have lots of ...

Re: May 2018 - Bandit's Lamb Kofta Curry

Thanks SB. I am always impatient to eat my curries, so unlike a few others here that let the dishes cool before photographing, I dash off a few quick shots (which is my excuse for the generally rushed pictures and poor lighting).

That looks superb, Pauly. I like the idea of using the air fryer to cook the koftas, must remember that trick next time.

Greybeard review - May 2018 Curry club - Bandit's Lamb Kofta Curry One of the great positives of this curry forum is that you get to mix with people from many different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds. Our one common denominator is no matter from where in the globe we currently reside, we ha...

Re: Love Saturday Nights

Looks superb, Bandit. Never considered serving an Indian salad and dip with a run of the mill "weekend" curry, (though I do with larger cook offs with poppadoms etc.). That looks so appealing, I might have to start doing that.

Re: May 2018 - Bandit's Lamb Kofta Curry

Thanks, CA - they were excellent. I've had problems with koftas etc. falling apart and disintegrating when grilled in the past without using any binder (e.g. egg or breadcrumbs). The mixture while it was quite stiff, was not quite stiff enough to endure any real rough handling, even after a good spe...

Re: May 2018 - Bandit's Lamb Kofta Curry

If you wait until a recipe matches exactly what's in your cupboard (or is otherwise readily available in Finland), you might be waiting a long time. I've had issues with this in the past as well, so I'd encourage members, as CA says, to improvise. Saying that, I bought some lamb mince for this reci...

Re: Saturday night dinner

That rice looks good, and I love the idea of cooking the rice with coconut milk . I'll need to get some sort of spice holder though, not sure my tea-strainer is up to the job though

Thanks folks, there was just enough left over from last night for a small portion so I will be double dipping tonight. Which is just as well as I'm now out of base.
