Re: Kerala Pepper Chicken

My word, your kerala pepper chicken looks great! The ingredients too, just itching to be made, looking forward to replicating this one.

Reminds me of of a pepper chicken (Kalimirch) from Martins Corner restaurant in Goa from a few years ago, very peppery and very tasty.

Re: May 2016 - ScotchBonnet's Garlic Chilli Chicken

Thanks for the garlicky heads up SB, 21 g, for me, was the weight of the crushed garlic in a pinch pot after peeling and pressing, I like the idea of 45g cloves though, saves a lot of messing about peeling and what not.

Nice recipe though, good colour and flavour.

My effort;

Nice and garlicky (the 3 fat cloves weighed 21 grams!). The pot is 900 ml if the portion size looks meagre, was quite a lot of curry overall.

Will do again and up the heat a bit, overall very very nice

Sorry about the glare, flash on the smartphone thingy.

Re: Prawn and paneer tandoori

Nice looking brunch there, right up my street. Paneer I think, rather like dal, is rather an underated BIR ingredient. I remember paneer tikka as a starter at the India House in Cambridge and very nice it was too. Especially like the double prong skewers, where were they from and is there a proper n...

Re: Last Thursday's effort

I am trying harder on the photo front! I seem to be Ok with close up, but no so good with the whole dish or plate

Thank you for your positive comments though, I'll post the main curry recipe later, just added the tikka one to the relevant recipe section.

Last Thursday's effort

Garlic chili Chicken tikka, is the best way to describe the curry! Slightly heavy on the garlic and chili and my own chicken tikka recipe along with larger onion scales in there too. Very strong flavour overall and very tasty. Along with Rsaha's BIR style chick peas and plain boiled rice (no basmati...

Re: My Lapat Aloo

I don't really know what Lapat is either, that's what they call the plant here. The Bulgarians pick it when its young and tender, de-stalk it and boil for 10 mins then drain and squeeze it and use it like we would use spinach. However it could well be the Bulgarians pulling the stupid Englishman's c...

Re: My oven Tandoori chicken brunch

I'll do this recipe again first before posting it! Control purposes, also one upping the flavour intensity and keep accurate notes too,

But yes, if it all works out I'll add a recipe.

Also this is the madras powder i used;

My Lapat Aloo

Based on Chukits Sag aloo, precooked the lapat with onion, green chili and a little spice mix. Turned out very nice indeed Lapat grows wild here, looks like horseradish leaves and is similar to spinach. My oven Tandoori chicken brunch

Tandoori chicken is one of my favourite dishes, so marinaded up the (skinned) legs and wings from the whole chicken I broke down for the curries I made Thursday night. Sat in the marinade for 40 hours; DSC00892.JPG DSC00894.JPG DSC00903.JPG DSC00905.JPG DSC00906.JPG The onions were fried on high hea...

Re: Simple Chicken Madras

That looks real good Tabs,

Just like i remember from the early 90's madras we had delivered from our favoured takeaway, texture looks great. I have just had a roast chicken dinner but frankly if that dish pictured was placed in front of me right now I would not hesitate to scoff the lot.

Good man!

I agree, smoked paprika is quite strong, I only use it in BBQ marinades and sauces.

What was the dish? Bhuna? Looks quite tasty to me.

Re: Month 2 - Garlic, Chilli Chicken Sagwalla, by Uncle Fran

It was quite dark, due to the spinach puree, but the lighting is making it look a bit darker than it really was. Having said that I googled up Chicken saagwalla and some of the pics are of quite a dark dish. Used your base and spice mix two. Deviations, well yes, no fresh coriander as we just don't ...

My attempt at this one; DSC00838.JPG DSC00842.JPG DSC00845.JPG DSC00847.JPG served with fragrant rice, frying pan naan and tarka dal (this was very very good). Overall I know it looks a bit non descript and messy, but it tastes good! I use finely chopped spinach (and maybe a touch more than the reci...
